What is your favorite part about conducting fieldwork or adjacent work?
One of my favorite aspects of conducting fieldwork, especially in community science projects, is the incredible opportunity it provides to connect people with the natural world around them. There’s something profoundly fulfilling about guiding others to not only observe but engage deeply with their environment. By participating in community science, people of all ages and backgrounds can contribute to meaningful scientific research while also fostering a sense of stewardship for nature. Witnessing these moments of discovery and the growing enthusiasm among participants is truly rewarding. It reminds me of the essential role we all play in both understanding and protecting our ecosystems. This connection to nature and community is what energizes me the most about fieldwork.
