Can you summarize your research in a simple way?

My research group studies how land-use change influence climate change.

How long have you conducted fieldwork?

About 30 years.

Where have you conducted fieldwork? Which was your favorite?

In a variety of places, from coastal rocky intertidal zones to tropical dry forests. My favorites are where I get to go back year after year and build relationships with people and the landscape in the area. 

What is your favorite part about conducting fieldwork?

Working with students and learning new things every day.
